The Cadet Coronation Parade
The Lord-Lieutenant, Mr Edward Harley CBE attended the Coronation Parade at the Castle Green, Hereford, to commemorate the coronation of His Majesty The King.
Over 200 cadets were on parade from Hereford Cathedral School CCF, Lucton School CCF, TS Antelope SCC, Inkerman Company HWACF and RAFAC from Hereford, Leominster and Ross On Wye. More than 50% of the parade were Riflemen from the CCFs and HWACF. They paraded in front of 1000 spectators.
Before the parade the crowd were treated to a fly past by a World War 2 Hurricane fighter plan from the RAF’s battle of Britain Memorial Flight.
A sunset ceremony was played after the parade by the RAF Cosford Volunteer band. During the parade the Lord Lieutenant presented Ft Sgt Danny Rees of Hereford RAFAC with the Cadet Force Medal for 12 years service.
The Reviewing officers were: The Lord Lieutenant escorted by Col Andy Taylor; The High Sheriff Mr Robert Robinson escorted by Lt Charlotte Warren RNR, The Chair of Herefordshire Council Councillor Roger Phillps escorted by Lt Gen Sir Tyrone Urch and the Mayor of Hereford Councillor Jacqui Carwardine escorted by Air Cdre Adam Sansom.
