Rural Housing Week 2023
Rural Housing Week is an annual National Housing Federation campaign to shine a light on the vital importance of work within the housing sector for rural communities. Taking place from 3 to 7 July 2023, the theme this year is 'building a better future for rural communities' and we are taking this opportunity to highlight our successes and continued commitment to providing good quality, affordable housing and services for the county.
Herefordshire has an increasing number of people who require higher levels of support due to being made homeless, domestic abuse and/or relationship breakdowns, younger people who need help to get ready for independent living, those experiencing mental health issues, migrants and an ever increasing number requiring temporary accommodation. However, Strategic Housing, Housing Solutions and All Age Commissioning are committed to finding solutions for people by working collaboratively.
In this section we are focussing on five areas:
- How we are building a better future for rural communities with our new build developments which are available to buy and rent through shared ownership
- Our supported accommodation schemes for vulnerable people where you can see our schemes for young people and those with complex needs
- How we are helping first time buyers with their first home through our discounted market scheme
- How we are housing our most vulnerable people with our work with homelessness through Project BRAVE and the Rough Sleeper Accommodation Programme (RSAP)
- How we are providing accessible homes to people with long term health conditions or disabilities by building and obtaining adapted properties for people on the Accessible Housing Register
