Corporate parenting panel
The purpose of the corporate parenting panel is to make sure that the council is the best parent it can be to all the children and young people who are in their care or have been in their care.
Herefordshire has a Corporate parenting strategy with priorities which are:
- All elected members and senior leaders across all key partners understand and act on their responsibilities as corporate parents
- Families are supported to care for their own children
- All looked after children have a safe and stable home
- All looked after children are supported to reach their potential in education
- All looked after children enjoy the best possible health
- All looked after children enjoy a range of play, sport, leisure and cultural opportunities
- All looked after children are listened to and treated with respect
- All looked after children are supported and enabled to live happy, healthy and financially secure lives when they leave care
The Corporate parenting panel meets every two months. Your Voice Matters are on the panel and they always have a time in the meeting to talk about anything that they want to raise. - Cabinet support member for looked after children (Chair)
- Councillors from all the parties
- Director of Children’s Well-Being
- Director of Adults Well-Being
- Director of Economy, Communities and Corporate
- Chief Finance officer
- Head of service for looked after children and adoption
- Your Voice Matters representatives supported by Participation Officer
- Two foster carer representatives
- Lead Nurse Paediatrics, Wye Valley NHS Trust
- Designated doctor for safeguarding and looked after children
- Community Services Manager, CAMHS
- Lay Member for Patient Experience ICB Governing Body
