Apply for listed building consent
If you plan to alter, extend or demolish a listed building in a way that affects its character as a building of special interest, you must apply for listed building consent. This includes works to both the interior and exterior of a building plus works to outbuildings and boundary walls.
It is a criminal offence to carry out work which needs Listed Building Consent without obtaining it first.
As most works that would alter the character of a listed building require Listed Building Consent, assume you have to apply for consent.
Visit the Planning Portal for guidance and support in completing an online application for planning permission and/or listed building consent.
