Health emergencies
Helping protect the people of Herefordshire from threats to their health is one of our most important roles. We work with the NHS and local GPs to ensure that the county can effectively manage incidents that might range from a minor flu outbreak to a full-scale emergency. If there is a public health issue or major incident, we will set up a dedicated phone number where you can get more information about what is happening and what you should do.
We will also give up-to-the minute details to local radio stations so you should listen to these.
Volunteer to help
Properly co-ordinated voluntary sector support can be of great help during emergencies as it helps takes the pressure off overstretched resources. To find out how your organisation could help, call Ian Baker, Emergency Planning Officer, Community Resilience on 01432 260223 or email: ibaker@herefordshire.gov.uk
