How to get involved with your library

Volunteer in a community library

Leintwardine, Peterchurch, and Weobley libraries are libraries run by volunteers on behalf of Herefordshire Libraries. If you are interested in volunteering at any of these sites, please email libraries@herefordshire.gov.uk and your details will be passed on to the relevant group.

Joint Action for Herefordshire Libraries

JAHL (Joint Action for Herefordshire Libraries) is an independent action group. Members are drawn from all the county library friends and users' organisations, and we aim to represent the needs of all library users across the county.

We will work with Herefordshire Council to develop strategies to sustain and improve library facilities and services, and with the public to explore what residents want from their libraries.

To get involved email Mark Ferrero at mark.ferrero@btinternet.com or phone 01457 540627.

Friends' groups

Our service works with you to develop and improve your library. We do this through consultation on new developments and by working in partnership with library friends and other groups.

If you are interested in setting up a friends group for your local library please email libraries@herefordshire.gov.uk

Friends of The Master's House, Ledbury

The Master's House is a Grade II* Listed building in the heart of Ledbury. The building reopened in 2015 following a comprehensive restoration funded by Herefordshire Council and the Heritage Lottery Fund, supported by the Friends of The Master's House, who campaigned for its rescue.

The building is now home to Ledbury Library. It also houses the John Masefield Archive and the Dymock Poets Collection.

The Friends are an active group of volunteers who have been involved with the building since 2007. Since the opening of the building in March 2015, the group continue to support the heritage, cultural and community events and activities held at The Master's House.

For more information, or to get involved, please visit The Master's House page.

The Friends of Ross Library (FoRL)

The Friends of Ross Library is a volunteer support group of people who care about Ross-on-Wye Library and the things it has to offer.

We believe that the library is a vital community facility for Ross and the surrounding countryside. It has a wide and varied choice of books, audiobooks, e-books and films to borrow and computers for visitor's use. We even have a coffee machine and comfortable chairs so visitors can sit a while! It is a community hub, a warm inviting space and a source of information and culture.

The Friends assist the library by raising funds for special projects and volunteering their time for special events.

To find out more visit the Friends of Ross Library website.

Friends of Leintwardine Community Library (FOLCL)

Leintwardine Library now has an official "Friends" society. Membership fees are very low and money raised will help towards making improvements to your local library and providing new and different services. Members of FOLCL have a chance to have a say on how the society works and how it shapes the library's services in future.
