School visits

We welcome visits from primary school classes into our public libraries. They are a fantastic way for children to discover what libraries have in store.

We offer free engaging and memorable introductions that help encourage children to read for pleasure, or you can book a visit and lead the session yourself.

A session usually lasts 45 minutes and can include:

  • How to join the library
  • How to find books and use the service
  • Time for children to browse and help to find books
  • Story time
  • Chance for children to borrow books on their library cards

Home educated groups are also welcome.

Where can you visit?

Most of our libraries can host school visits by prior arrangement, apart from Peterchurch, our smallest branch.

  • Hereford, Ledbury, Leominster, Ross-on-Wye and Bromyard libraries can host visits at any time during the school week.
  • Belmont, Kington, Colwall, Leintwardine, Weobley libraries can only accommodate visits outside of opening times. Find library opening times

Our libraries are used by many groups at different times, so please contact us in advance to book your visit before you come.

You may wish to encourage parents to ensure their children are library members before the visit to enable them to borrow books on the day.

We look forward to seeing you!
