Following a meeting yesterday, Cabinet will recommend that Council accepts a funding offer from the Department for Education (DfE) towards improvements at Brookfield Special School, Hereford.
The council has been successful in securing a £4m grant from the DfE to help refresh and refurbish the school. The council has agreed to increase its contribution to 30% of the cost of the work to provide overall funding of £5m for the project.
The planned works are part of an overall local authority school buildings maintenance works (2021-23) programme, approved by cabinet on 17 December 2020. The programme will see DfE funding used to improve the facilities at a number of Herefordshire schools, including Brookfield School, following in depth condition surveys on local authority owned school buildings.
The recommendation will be discussed at the council meeting on Friday 29 July 2022. More information can be found in the meeting agenda.
