As Broad Street’s museum comes to a temporary close for redevelopment, the Black and White House in High Town is keeping its doors open, despite its own restoration work
It’s stood the test of time since the 17th century. But even the durable Black and White House needs a little maintenance from time to time.
While scaffolding went up around the building in Hereford’s High Town this week, the timber-framed museum remains open as usual for all visitors to enjoy what’s on offer.
That includes a host of demonstrations taking place throughout the summer. See the Black and White House page for more details.
The essential repairs to its exterior will take up to 16 weeks to complete. If necessary, some rooms inside the building may close for short periods for health and safety reasons.
Museum supervisor Julia Radburn says:
“The necessary work being done will help protect one of Herefordshire’s most important heritage sites for years to come. While that’s going on, we’re open as usual and we’re really looking forward to welcoming visitors to the exciting events organised for summer.”
