Herefordshire children receiving free school meals can enjoy a wide range of activities during the summer holidays

Children and young people in Herefordshire who receive benefits-related free school meals are invited to sign up to enjoy free activities during the summer holidays.

Herefordshire Council’s Talk Community team are working in partnership with local organisations to deliver a range of exciting free indoor and outdoor activities through the summer break.

The Here for Herefordshire holidays programme aims to get young people involved with new and exciting activities, from sport to music, dance, drama, pottery and cooking. The programme also helps to improve socialisation skills by encouraging children to have fun while making new friends.

There will also be a free healthy meal for children at each activity session.

Councillor Ivan Powell, Herefordshire Council Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said:

“It’s a tough time for families at the moment, so I’m delighted that we have the funding to keep offering the free activities to eligible families.

With the support of our fantastic activity providers, we’re able to offer children the opportunity to learn new skills, make friends, connect with nature and have fun over the summer. Children will also enjoy a tasty nutritious meal at every session.”

Eligible families can book their places through the holiday activities page on the Talk Community website: www.talkcommunity.org/holidayactivities

The Here for Herefordshire Holidays programme is funded by the Department for Education.
