Events are being held across the county where you can get involved in shaping the strategy for restoring nature and biodiversity in Herefordshire
Herefordshire Council is responsible for bringing together local people, landowners, statutory agencies and organisations to develop and implement a strategy for restoring nature and biodiversity in the county.
Herefordshire’s Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS) draws together information on the current state of the natural environment in the county, and sets out priorities, activities and natural solutions to restore and improve biodiversity.
Events are being held across the county where you can find out more about what will be included in the final strategy, and to share your views and insight to help in its development. We will have stalls in the town markets on the following days:
- 10 July in Hereford
- 12 July in Leominster
- 16 July in Ledbury
- 18 July in Kington
- 18 July in Ross-on-Wye

The Environment Act
In 2021 the UK Government introduced the Environment Act, which operates as the UK's new framework of environmental protection. The Act specifies that local bodies take responsibility for restoring the environment within their locale, working with local groups and the local authority, drawing on ecological insights and finding natural solutions that improve biodiversity. This approach needs to be captured within the Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS).
This strategy is aimed at reversing the ongoing decline of nature and biodiversity in England, through practical and coordinated action of the implementation of the Nature Recovery Network on a local level.
Herefordshire Council is the designated 'Responsible Authority' for the Herefordshire Local Nature Recovery Strategy.
