Family activities at the black & white house this summer

Cat and Mouse About the House Trail

Families can go on a self-guided adventure through the Black and White House Museum with the Cat and Mouse About the House Trail. Visitors can explore the House as look out for the mice that have joined as while our cat is missing. This fun trail is for all the family and is included with museum admission.

Make a Mouse Workshops

Youngsters can create their own felt mouse to take home in our ‘Make a Mouse’ workshop on Wednesdays, 7, 21, and 28 August, 1pm to 3 pm. There is no need to book in advance. The workshops are free, although donations are always welcome. Please be aware that parents and carers need to stay with their children during the activity.

Dress Up in Replica Costumes

Families can also experience history by dressing up in costumes from the 1600s. Visitors, both adults and children, can experience what the past was like and learn about daily living during the 1600s.

Kids Go Free

Under 16s with a paying adult and students get free entry to the Black and White House Museum throughout the year and not just during the summer! For £3.50, everyone else can get to explore and enjoy the House.

The Black and White House Museum provides an enjoyable experience for the whole family. Make enduring memories as you delve into the rich history of this exquisitely preserved timber-framed building from the 1600s.

Using the hashtags #CatAndMouse and #BlackAndWhiteHouseMuseum, together with the @blackandwhitehousehereford and @HerefordMuseums tags, share your summertime adventures on social media. We can't wait to have you here!

About the Black and White House Museum

Located in the middle of Hereford, the Black and White House is a unique timber-framed house. It has been a museum since 1929, providing a glimpse into everyday life in the Jacobean era. The house has period-appropriate furnishings, including a notable collection of English oak furniture that is collected worldwide.
