Local people have the opportunity to offer their feedback on the proposed new active travel scheme on Aylestone Hill, Hereford via questionnaire as well as commenting on provided maps and designs.
The scheme is running in conjunction with the Safer Routes to Schools and Aylestone School expansions projects.
The proposed scheme is funded primarily by Levelling Up Funding but also through Department for Transport’s Active Travel Grant funding, and will see improvements to active travel facilities, namely walking, wheeling (including mobility scooters) and cycling. The projects will not only bring cycle infrastructure up to the latest national guidance, but also improve facilities for pedestrians, in particular crossing arrangements.
Cllr Philip Price, Cabinet Member for Transport and Infrastructure, said: “These projects are part of a wider programme of Active Travel Measure (ATM) schemes accessing Active Travel Funding (ATF) and Levelling Up Funding (LUF) across Hereford City. They will help to address the challenges that people face while walking and cycling in these parts of the city and encourage active travel in Hereford as the natural choice for shorter journeys.
“The schemes will support a reduction in carbon and other transport related emissions in the county and provide a good quality, convenient and safe transport network that prioritises walking and cycling. I would encourage everybody to get involved and have their say.”
