Herefordshire Council is inviting all residents to this year’s annual White Ribbon Conference being held on-line on Friday 22 November.

This year’s White Ribbon Campaign theme, #ItStartsWithMen, calls on men to lead the way in challenging sexism and preventing domestic abuse.

The conference aims to empower men to take a stand against everyday misogyny and abuse. Attendees will learn practical skills to safely and effectively intervene, hold themselves accountable, and promote a culture of respect.

Hosted virtually from 9.30am to 3pm on MS Teams, the conference will feature keynote speakers, including advocates, researchers and experts from across the UK.

Featured keynote speakers include:

  • Nour Norris – Psychotherapist and domestic abuse advocate, sharing her personal journey from tragedy to influence, including her role in the establishment of Raneem's Law, a significant development in UK legislation for early intervention in domestic abuse cases.
  • Cranstoun – Discussing innovative approaches in working with male perpetrators and the impact of Male Independent Domestic Violence Advisors (IDVAs).
  • SafeLives Research Team – Presenting recent findings from "The Verge of Harm" study, which explores early intervention strategies to prevent abusive behaviour.
  • Right Path – Focusing on tackling male misogyny and promoting allyship within the community.
  • Martin Lakeman – Presenting tools like Cut It Out training, Clare’s Law, and Visual Evidence for Victims (VEV) for effective interventions.

Paul Walker, Chief Executive of Herefordshire Council, said: “As an Ambassador for the White Ribbon Campaign, I’m proud to champion this cause and help guide Herefordshire towards a future where violence against women is no longer tolerated. I encourage others to become Ambassadors or Champions to strengthen this movement.”
