Hereford Museum Service is inviting families to join them for some exciting events this February half-term.
The ‘Hoards and Heists’ themed activities will be filled with mystery, discovery and fun. You are invited to bring your little explorers and budding detectives along for a chance to dive into history in a way that’s both engaging and educational.
Hoard at the House Trail
From 15-23 February you can take your family on a treasure hunt around the Black and White Museum trail to uncover the hidden treasures of Herefordshire’s past. As you explore the museum, embark on a treasure hunt to find ancient hoards hidden throughout the house. From Roman coins to medieval jewellery, discover why people buried their valuables—were they protecting them from danger, making offerings to gods, or hiding them from invaders?
Hoard at the House is included in the entry ticket price to the Black and White Museum and is a drop-in activity suitable for ages 5+.
Bank Heist Trial
On Wednesday19 February you are invited to step into the year 1901 and join Constable Lastrade to solve a thrilling bank robbery mystery in the Bank Heist Trial.
£100,000 has been stolen from the Old House Bank, and it’s up to you to help crack the case.
In this interactive role-playing experience, you and your family will become detectives, following hidden clues scattered throughout the Black and White House. Each clue links to one of the five suspects, and it’s up to you to piece together the evidence and deduce who committed the crime before time runs out!
With 40-minute timed slots and a maximum of ten participants per session, you’ll work as a team to gather clues, analyse suspects, and help Constable Lastrade uncover the culprit.
Tickets are £5 for one mini detective (child), with one accompanying adult going free. Tickets for timed slots can be pre-booked via Eventbrite or available on the day from the museum. Bank Heist Trial is suitable for ages 8+.
