Herefordshire Council has welcomed the announcement of new government funding which will help households stay warm and lower their energy bills.
The council will receive a share of the £6.717 million Warm Homes funding allocated to Herefordshire, Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin councils.
This latest funding will support a range of energy efficiency measures across the county over the next three years.
At a time when many are experiencing high energy bills driven by the UK’s reliance on international gas markets, this funding through the Warm Homes: Local Grant scheme could now help households save hundreds of pounds a year.
Low-income and poor energy efficiency rated households could benefit from energy saving measures and upgrades such as insulation, single glazing replacement, solar panels and heat pumps.
The Council has an online expression of interest form for residents to complete.
Councillor Elissa Swinglehurst, Cabinet Member Environment, said: “Living in a poorly-heated home can have serious health and wellbeing consequences that nobody should have to experience. One of our top priorities as an administration is to improve the health and wellbeing of Herefordshire residents, and funding for measures that enable residents to keep their homes warm is a vital component of achieving this.
“This new funding is especially good news for low income households, providing a way to boost energy efficiency and reduce bills. I would encourage anybody who thinks they may be eligible to learn more about the funding and application process on our website.”
