The statutory period for consultation is 21 days from receipt of the planning application. This date is published in notification letters, the press, site notices and on this website.
In order that representations may be properly taken into account, it is important that the time allowed for submission as stated on the notification is strictly observed.
Please note that for applications requiring the display of a site notice, the initial Publicity Date shown on the website will normally be extended to run for 3 weeks from the date the notice is displayed. The new date will be updated by the case officer as soon after their site visit as possible. Anyone wishing to make comments can monitor the website for this purpose or make contact with the case officer to check if necessary.
The council is able to make a decision on an application at any time after the publicity period has expired. In any event we should normally make a decision within 13 weeks for major developments and 8 weeks for all other types of a developments of a valid application being made.
The majority of decisions are made by officers under delegated powers. Where this is not the case the application will be determined by the Planning Committee and meeting dates, agendas and minutes are available online.
