Repair it

Repair cafes are popping up all around the world. Run by local, skilled volunteers they reduce waste that would otherwise be disposed of by repairing items like toys, furniture, household goods, electronics and clothing. Repairs are usually free but donations towards the cafe's running costs are welcomed.

Repair cafes in Herefordshire

The following repair cafés operate in Herefordshire:

• Archenfield Repair Café at Llangrove Village Hall
• South Hereford Repair Café at Dinedor Village Hall
• Repair Café Ledbury at Ledbury Community Hall
• Leominster Repair Café at Leominster Community Centre
• Repair Café Marden at Marden Hub
• The Golden Valley Repair Café – The café operates between Kingstone, Dorstone and Ewyas Harold so look out for information on local Facebook pages for dates and times.

For more information on when each café operates and whether a booking is required please visit their website or Facebook page by following the link above and look out for local advertising.

Repair cafés also operate in places near Herefordshire, such as the Malvern Hills and Presteigne.

Repair cafe grant funding scheme

If you want to set up a repair cafe in your community and help to grow our local repair network support is now available via Herefordshire Council repair cafe grant funding scheme. A maximum grant award of £2,500 is available to cover the cost of establishing a new repair cafe or expanding existing repair activity.

Funding is available to Herefordshire-based, non-profit groups, organisations and city/town and parish councils.

The scheme is open to applications until Monday 31 March 2025, but could close sooner should all available funding be awarded to suitable applicants.

Volunteering

Skilled volunteers are essential to the running of all repair cafes. If you enjoy repairing things around the house or tinkering in the shed, why not share these skills and volunteer to support a repair café?

If you're not sure if your repair skills are up to it, why not volunteer in other ways, like organising the events or meeting and greeting visitors?
