Why wasn't my bin collected?

There can be a number of reason why a collection might be missed so before you report a missed collection please:

  • Check to see if your neighbour's waste has been collected, we might just be running behind
  • Check what time you put your bin out. Collection can happen anytime from 6.30am
  • Check to see if you have put your rubbish or recycling bin out on the correct week using our collection day look up
  • Check to see if we have stickered or tagged your bin or sacks

We now have technology, including CCTV, in our vehicles to monitor collections and maximise efficiency. We use this for live updates on the progress of crews, to keep our crews safe and to ensure collections have been made.

You won't be able to report a missed collection if:

  • The crew have not yet visited your property
  • The crew have reported a problem with your collection on their in-cab device

If we do miss your rubbish or recycling please report a missed bin collection as soon as possible and within 2 working days of the scheduled collection day.

Reasons we may have not collected your bin

  • Your rubbish or recycling was not put out for collection at the boundary of your property nearest to the public highway in time for the collection, rubbish or recycling needs to be out by 6.30am
  • Your rubbish or recycling contained items unsuitable for collection. We call this contamination. Check that you are putting the correct materials out for recycling, and not including unacceptable items in your general rubbish
  • Excess rubbish has been put out for collection or your bin was over-filled, preventing the lid from closing. If you have excess rubbish, you can book a slot to take it to one of our household recycling centres
  • Your bin was damaged meaning it could not be safely emptied during collection. Report a damaged wheelie bin and request a new one
  • Garden waste has been put out for collection incorrectly. Garden waste will only be collected if put out in green garden waste sacks purchased from Herefordshire Council and left next to your black bin or black sacks

Sticker or tags on your bins or sacks

If we cannot take away your rubbish or recycling, our collection crews will put a tag or sticker on a wheelie bin or sack to explain why. They will also record the reason in their in-cab device. The tag or sticker will provide additional information on what to do next.

If we have tagged your rubbish or recycling because it is contaminated, check that you are putting the correct materials out for recycling, and not including unacceptable items in general waste.

Other waste

Waste from a business, including holiday lets and childminders, is classed as business waste and cannot be collected as part of the household collection service. Find out more about business waste.
