Care in your own home

Home care, also sometimes called domiciliary care, can help you to live at home and remain independent for longer. Care workers can provide a range of support and assist you with essential tasks such as washing and dressing, preparing and eating food and using the toilet.

You can find more information to help you remain independent in your own home on the Talk Community Directory - Support yourself at home and extensive information about the practicalities of finding care or caring for someone at home on the NHS Choices website - Your guide to care and support.

All local care agencies are listed on the Care Quality Commission (CQC) website and you will be able to see their recent CQC inspection. You can search for the type of care you are looking for in your local area.

If the person needing care lives in Herefordshire and you would like help with arranging this care please go to our Guide to accessing care and support section.

If you need a short period of rehabilitation in your own home find out more about Herefordshire Council's reablement service - Home First.
