Trading standards and consumer advice contact details
Herefordshire Council's Trading Standards team aim to protect the community from illegal or unfair trading practices, protect the local economy by ensuring Herefordshire's traders do not suffer from unfair competition, forge close links with the business community and ensure the highest level of animal health and welfare.
Trading Standards Officers ensure compliance with consumer protection legislation by:
- Inspecting premises
- Investigating complaints
- Carrying out proactive work
This includes surveys and test purchasing exercises of age-restricted goods, such as tobacco and alcohol.
Citizens Advice Consumer Service
The Citizens Advice Consumer Service (CACS) provides first level consumer and business advice on behalf of Herefordshire Trading Standards.
This service works in partnership with us in offering clear, practical, first-level advice and information on a wide range of consumer issues.
More complex problems or complaints requiring further investigation or assistance will be referred to us or other advice services by the CACS, in accordance with an agreed protocol.
