Ceremony and civil partnership fees
It is your responsibility to ensure that you pay the full correct fee at least three months before your ceremony.
For ceremonies booked less than three months in advance, you will need to pay the full amount at the time of booking.
You cannot pay fees on the day of your ceremony. We are unable to accept part payments.
The fees stated below do not include the cost of your marriage or civil partnership certificates, which will need to be paid for separately.

Giving notice of marriage or civil partnership

There is also an additional fee if you have previously been married and granted a divorce or dissolution of that marriage in another country. You will be advised of this fee at the notice appointment.
Please note that if you change the venue of your ceremony after giving notice you will have to give notice again and pay the statutory charge.
Ceremony booking and administration fees
Please note: the fees below relate to the fees for booking your registrars. You will need to book your venue separately, with the exception of the Register Office and The Willow Room which are booked within the registrar fee.
Register Office ceremonies
A ceremony at the Hereford Register Office, located at No 8 St Owen Street, is a statutory ceremony. These ceremonies are very basic, with just the couple, the registrars and two witnesses. The ceremony itself takes around 15 minutes. There is no music, readings or poems.

Bookings may only be taken up to 6 months in advance for a Register Office ceremony.
Registered building ceremonies
Registered building ceremonies take place at venues that are non-Church of England/Wales places of worship, such as a Baptist or Freedom Church. If the registered building does not have an authorised person to carry out the legal paperwork, a registrar needs to attend to complete this.

A non-refundable and non-transferable booking fee of £70 shall apply to book a registrar for these ceremonies more than six months and up to two years in advance of the date of your ceremony.
Approved venues
An approved venue is a premise licenced by the Superintendent Registrar to carry out marriage and civil partnership ceremonies. Herefordshire is a beautiful county and offers a wide range of venues. Contact your chosen venue for availability for your ceremony. You can also view the ceremony venues on a map. All approved venue bookings attract a booking fee.

Herefordshire Council venues
The Willow Room
The Willow Room, located at No 8 St Owen Street, is the newest Herefordshire Council venue and can accommodate the couple and 18 guests, perfect for more intimate ceremonies, which can include music, poems and readings. The Willow Room is currently only available on Saturdays. Email ceremonies@herefordshire.gov.uk for further details.

The ceremony spaces within Hereford Town Hall - The Oak Room, Assembly Hall and Council Chamber - are approved venues and allow more choices when planning your ceremony.
