Faith in fostering

Care, kindness and compassion are found in both religious and fostering communities. If you're from a faith community, your values and experiences could make you a great foster carer.

Our foster carers come from a range of cultural and religious backgrounds. We recognise and appreciate the importance of having a diverse group of foster carers, as we all bring our own strengths and values.

This diversity is crucial to helping us provide culturally appropriate matches for our children. We will attempt to match carers and children based on their faiths if it is appropriate as these shared beliefs can build positive bonds that create stable homes.

Our Faith in Fostering initiative encourages those from faith communities in Herefordshire to contact us to explore how you could change the life of a local child or young person.

Your views will not affect your application. However, you would need to consider how you would feel about discussing differing beliefs with any children you support or caring for children of different faiths, as it will be your role as their foster carer to create a supportive, nurturing environment for them to explore their own values and beliefs.
