This long sleeved waistcoat in brocaded silk was made around 1700. It is made from a silk and metal thread brocade with a design of flowers in gold with pink, silver and green . The upper sectionsof the sleeves are made from a yellow tabby watered silk (moire taffeta) - the coat would never be removed in public so a small economy could be made on the sleeves.. The buttons are decorated with metal thread and run the full length of the garment with matching long buttons holes stitched in metal thread. It is single breasted, has three vents, but no collar. Tthe waistcoat is lined in pink silk with woven dots and white flannel.
