Waistcoat, man's, Waistcoat

A man's sleeved waistcoat in cream silk with hand embroidered silver gilt thread raised work. The design includes flowers, acorns, leaves and tendrils and are embroidered using bullion stitch (coiled wire) and straight metal threads with the occasional spangle. The buttons are made from wooden formers decorated with metal thread. It is single breasted, sleeved and has no collar. There are three overlapping vent at the back. The back and skirts are lined with cream silk, the rest with linen. It was given to the museum by Lt Coll CM Thornycroft CBE DSO of Breinton in 1947.
