A pair of black spotted sillk shoes with attached overshoes. They date from 1780-1790, There is gathered ruching decoration and rosettes in black ribbon. The heel covered with black kid and is known as an Italian heel and the toes are very pointed. There is a pointed tongue. They were probably worn by a member of the Hurt Family, Derbyshire or the Bromley-Davenports, between which there was a marriage c. 1820.
