Reverend Prebendary Philip Austen Lushington was educated at Balliol College and was ordained deacon in 1903 and entered the priesthood in Hereford the following year. He was vicar of Breinton 1909-1914. It is most likely that he met Brian at this time as their dates at Oxford do not seem to coincide. He retired to Ross on Wye in 1946 . Philip Austen Lushington died 4 September 1965
