Two portrait studies on one canvas. The two heads are at opposite ends of a single canvas, showing the artist's economic use of his materials. One study depicts a near profile view of a man with a grey beard and the other is a young man with brown hair and brown suit. Both figures are unidentified, but probably date from the period when Brian was beginning to take commissions for portraits around 1912.
