Hazardous waste disposal
As a business owner it's your responsibility to ensure that you make suitable arrangements for your waste to be stored and disposed of safely and lawfully.
Special consideration needs to be given to the disposal of hazardous waste as defined in The Hazardous Waste Regulations 2005.
No items described as hazardous in the regulations should be disposed of in any business waste service provide by Herefordshire Council.
Hazardous waste can be considered as follows:
- Asbestos
- Batteries
- Chemicals (for example brake fluid or print toner)
- Poisonous, noxious and polluting substances
- Engine oil or items contaminated by it
- Solvents
- Empty containers with residues of hazardous waste in them
- Clinical waste
- Refrigeration equipment
- CRT televisions or monitors, tyres, and fluorescent lights
- We also do not accept any liquid wastes including paint
Please note that the following items can also not be collected if placed in your bin:
- Plasterboard
- Gas canisters
You will need to make appropriate arrangements for the safe disposal of any waste included on the above lists.
