About Hear Me children's rights and advocacy service
"You are the boss"
There are so many different adults whose views control your life journey when in care or on a child protection plan. Among all this noise, it is easy for the voice of the most important person in this journey to be lost: that person is you!
At Hear Me we work with you to make sure your voice is heard and listened to. As we work with you, we aim to help you find and share your voice, and understand your rights. We hope than once we have worked with you for some time, you will no longer need our support and that eventually you feel comfortable and strong enough not to need us. After all, "you are the boss"!
How we can help
We can provide you with advocacy support when you need and ask for it. We can help you find information you need or go with you to meetings, in a supportive role. You may want us to write letters on your behalf, or speak for you in situations where you don't feel able to speak for yourself. We can also help you make complaints against the local authority.
When we can help
We can help you if one or more of the following apply:
- You are a child in care
- You are an unaccompanied asylum seeker child
- You are homeless and aged 16-17
- You are on a child in need plan and need support making a complaint against the local authority. We can also support you at your first child in need meeting
- In most circumstances we can help you if you are a care leaver and under 25 years of age
- You are on a child protection plan
- You receive support from the children's with disabilities team
